The Change of Command Ceremony is a time-honored naval tradition that passes authority from one commanding officer to another. Few in the public sector have ever witnessed this simple yet profound ceremony. We were honored to be invited and observe our friends, Commander Peter Ehlers and his wife Abby undergo this unique ceremony on the USS Robert G. Bradley FFG 49.
When the ship's captain, or other important person arrives or departs, watch standers make an announcement to the ship and ring the bell.
